Dr Mocanu is a Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. His main interests are male and female infertility, ovulation induction, minimal invasive reproductive surgery and IVF/ ICSI.
He was appointed as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist to the Rotunda and HARI-The National Fertility Centre in 2005. As Consultant in Charge at HARI, he is involved with the practical and theoretical teaching of students attached to the Rotunda Hospital.
Dr Mocanu received his MD from Iuliu Hatieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 1993 and did his residency in Ireland in the three maternity hospitals in Dublin, Coombe Women's Hospital, Rotunda Hospital and National Maternity Hospital as well as the St James's and Adelaide Hospitals.
He holds a Certificate of Specialist Training (CST) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is registered on the Medical Council Specialist Register. He is RCOG Sub-Specialty certified in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery having trained under the guidance of Professor Robert F Harrison. He also worked at the Mater Hospital, St. Vincent's Hospital, Tallaght Hospital and the Coombe Women's Hospital.
He is a founding member and past-President of the Irish Fertility Society (IFS), a member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). He is serving as a member of the Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Clinical Advisory Group, Oncofertility Advisor to the National Cancer Control Programme, Coordinator of the ESHRE EUTCD Task Force and Treasurer of the International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS).
Dr Mocanu sees patients in the Rotunda Hospital Public and Private Infertility Clinics and performs surgery in the Rotunda and Bon Secours hospitals in Dublin.
