Undescended testes

In most cases, testes have descended by 9 months of age in infant boys but undescended testes occur in 3-4% of full term infants. If at one year old, they remain undescended, early surgery (orchidopexy) can avoid any permanent damage that could lead to fertility problems later in life. This surgery not only offers an improved chance of fertility but also reduces the risk of testicular cancer.
