Reproductive Immunology
What is reproductive immunology?

If someone has experienced repeated miscarriages, some believe that the immune system may be rejecting the pregnancy. It is suggested that the father's genetic material could cause the mother's body to reject the pregnancy. In most women, the natural immune response is thought to be suppressed to prevent any rejection of the embryo. There is much debate around this theory, internationally. However there has been no significant evidence presented to confirm that rejection of an embryo ever actually happens in the woman's body. In common with most international experts, we advise anyone being offered such tests and treatment to discuss them fully with their GP and clinic and to question the reasons for and against having them.
